Nick is always available, time allowing, as a knowledgeable expert in his own fields of photography. From courses and demonstrations utilising photographic models to full-blown lectures, competition judging or just helpful free advice to interested individuals!
Genial and generous in praise, he tries to find positive aspects in order to encourage. However, his compositional talent and eye for detail enable him to actively improve the work of many amateur and professional photographers.
Is Nick a credible photographic host?
Educated in photography and art at the Faculty of Communication, PCL (University of Westminster) his work has been published world-wide via the Rex Features Media Agency, London and he has carried out many successful commisions for a range of top UK companies. Whilst at College, in 1982, he invented a little known, but very effective, darkroom technique known as Triple-Stage Sabbatier Wet Contact Re-reversal - a complex adaptation of the already well-known Sabbatier technique!
Nick has lectured, on his calendar work, throughout the UK and Europe from 1987 onwards. He has served on the National Professional Examination Panel of the MPA as well as giving informal talks to amateur camera clubs. He is an experienced judge of both professional and amateur photographic competitions and also taught, for many years, as a member of the Art department at The Woodlands School, Coventry.
Between 1986 and 1993 Nick won 37 Professional Photography awards culminating in him being invited to exhibit at the World Council of Professional Photography Exhibition in the USA. After that he stood aside in order to judge competitions rather than take part in them!
He is the author of many technical photographic articles that have been published in UK magazines such as "Amateur Photographer", "Practical Photography", "Camera Weekly" and "The Master Photographer".
The 2000+ professional-photographer-members of the MPA have to achieve the basic grade of professional qualification (LMPA) in order to retain membership. Very good photographers go onto attain Associate status (AMPA) but, in 1991, Nick became the first-ever photographer to join the elite grade of Fellowship (FMPA) by examination! At the last count there were only about 60 Fellows - approximately 30 are Honorary with only 30 having qualified by the difficult examination route!
Nick successfully converted from colour transparency material and conventional 120 rollfilm cameras to Nikon digital SLR cameras in 2000!
If you are not able to learn some great photographic tips from Nick we would be very surprised!
